Our Girls Debut at a Class 'A' Show

AHASFV Youth Group members participated in their first Class A Show last month. The riders included Secretary Julia Broome, Vice President Hannah Kulik, and Brooke Cohen. All of the girls have been practicing hard to learn a new discipline, Saddle Seat with trainer with Jim Lowe, and their hard work paid off!

Julia & Hannah were 2nd and 3rd in their first class and then went Champion and Reserve Champion in the ATR class! Brooke shows a young mare and placed 4th & 3rd in great classes. To top it all off, our friend Judy Humes showed her horse What About Bob so it was a great experience to share with her. Brooke also showed our mare Princess in 3 halter classes and won each time, including the Championship! We can't wait for the AHASFV Amateur Show in November!!

Hidden Hills English Practice Show

Our kids showed the support for our beautiful community by attending the Hidden Hills English Show at our local arena.
This event provided a great opportunity for novice riders to gain show experience, and for our more advanced riders, it provided great schooling opportunities.
It's an especially nice venue for our littlest riders.

We all had a really nice time and enjoyed a mellow, relaxing day in our community.

A few of our kids even took home the High Point Awards! Congratulations to Jordan Parr & Ginger Snap on winning in the 12 & Under Division!

September - Mare of the Month - MCA Crimson Lace!

From the moment she stepped off the trailer, I have loved Crimson. She is simple and complicated, beautiful and cute, intelligent and opinionated, athletic and quiet. Some days she is the perfect western horse and other days she is trotting level.

An Aristocrat mare with seven champion babies and one unshown, Crimson spent most of her life as a broodmare. This is great because she is a great producer but also sad because she is an equally great riding mare.
Crimson has shown in Hunter Pleasure and won, can easily jump 3' oxers, is incredible on the trails - fast but easily walks on a loose rein, and dominated the Hidden Hills gymkhanas for a year, beating all the champion barrel horses in town. She is so special.

Crimson has never been lame, never been unhappy to go for a ride and is great with all other horses. Her mane and tail are thick and wavy and in the winter she looks like a Welsh Pony. When she had a shoulder injury, she let us clean her 12" gash without protest. She is a truly a great mare and our treasure.
Crimson's sire, DWD Tabasco
By DWD Tabasco and out of MCA Foxie Bey, she comes from a line of great horses. She also lived at Varian Arabians, where she was started by someone great as she had not been ridden for 12 years when we got her and we just saddled her and hopped on without protest.
Crimson's Champion Baby, M.M. Kaschtin+++/
Another Champion baby, MM Samaadhi
When it is time to go to Ahamnson, everyone fights over Crimson and no one can forget the match race Hannah won with her and all the other girls - it was so exciting. She has so much heart and we are lucky to be blessed with her in our pastures.

September Rider of the Month - Alexandra Terlesky!

It is no surprise that Alexandra earned Rider of the Month this month with how well she cares for her baby, "Dru", our pinto Half-Arabian pony mare. Alexandra is very particular about Dru's care and appereance and believe me that is no easy task considering how Dru likes to stay so dirty all the time!

Alexandra has steadily graduated from horses - first Barbary, then Festivity, Persja, and now Dru. She has loved them all passionately and took incredible care of each and every one of them. We picked Dru out especially for her since she had a dream of having a pinto Arabian that jumped.

It is always a great pleasure having Alexandra in the barn and I am looking forward to many more memories with her down the road! Congratulations, Alexandra!!!
