AHASFV's Benji's BBQ Open Horse Show

Our friends at AHASFV really know how to put on a great show! Jeff and Teri are wonderufl show secretaries and Courtney is our favorite announcer! Our good friend, Meaghan brought tons of nice volunteers that helped make the day run smoothly.
Kate was a huge help to us at the show
Even other people at the show were commenting on how fun it was and how organzied the entire event was. Kate from our barn even lended a huge helping hand.
Manny, from Meaghan's barn, on Antares
We were also thankful for Benji's delicious BBQ and the calm lunch break we all enjoyed. The new schedule of classes worked well and there was plenty of time to get ready and no tack changes! Yipee!
All of the great AHASFV volunteers!
The Walk/Trot classes were competitive and fun - Lily Gellman & Zara showed along with Emily Holden & Patrina Vf. Both girls did an amazing job and they sort of looked like little twins with their gray mares!

Beautiful Emily Holden on Patrina VF.

Lily Gellman looked amazing on Zara who also looked so fancy for her first show at age 24!
The Liberty Class was exciting and would you believe our very own Buck Light won the class! That horse has come such a long way, we were so proud of him - he also took 2nd in the halter!
Our beautiful boy, Buck Light & Ashley Lane
Hannah's pony, Jade was off so she showed her sister's horse, Sonata and took a second in a huge Equitation Class - this was her first show and she even went in some jumping classes!

Grace & Valentina win another class!
Grace rode our rescure mare, Valentina who was purchased from the Mira Loma Livestock auction on Valentine's Day. This duo have an incredible bond and Valentina is enjoying her new life with us. We weren't planning on another horse but we couldn't resist her sweet eyes!

Julia & Coco, jumping

Julia and Coco did a wonderful job together. Probably one of the most exciting classes to watch was her Jumper Class where is won by an incredible 26 seconds! Way to go, Julez!
Also showing were Emma, Alexa and Brooke. Both Emma and Alexa were missing their horses, Dessa and Poet who were both home for the day but they did a good job showing and made the best of it.
Emma, Pretty in Pink with Gracie

Our Group of Girls, just chilling.
Three bay mares in a row, so pretty!
Brooke did a wonderful job with Lola - one lesson with Jim Lowe and she has improved her flat so much - she still loves her Jumper Classes the best and she tied with Ashley and Dru in the Gambler's Choice Class!
Brooke & Lola, looking good on the flat!
Good Times, it was accidently set a little long (2 minutes) but both horses rose to the occasion and even jumped the 3'3" oxer!

Padron's Lil Penny, our super jumping pony!

"Dru" makes it look so easy!

Brooke & Bella showing halter
Hannah did an amazing job braiding manes!
Even Dakota had a great day! Can't wait for the next show in July.

Hidden Hills English Show

Our kids were well represented at the Hidden Hills English Horse Show this month. Nine Youth members braved the incredible heat attended the show which included flat and jumping classes.

Our Arabians dominated each division and the girls earned the High Points in all 4 Divisions - Jordan Parr & Ginger Snap earned top honors in the 11 & under group & the jumping division, Ashley Lane & Sonnet (who stood in for an off B.Light) won their age group, Hannah Kulik & Jade won the Crossrail Division and Ashley Lane & Padron's Lil Penny jumped their way into a clean sweep of the Hunter Division.
Poor Julez got heat stroke and had to leave early. Even sweet Persja was feeling the heat so Alexa had to switch to Gracie for her remaining classes.

Grace Feitshans also showed our rescued horse, Valentina and earned first place in their first class ever! What a great mare! I am so proud of both of them. And yes, we taught her how to jump!Another upcoming star is Geffen Goldstein who moved off the leadline division and earned a 2nd & 3rd in the walk/trot classes. Geffen rose Gracie and the two did amazing - loved the posting!

Emma & Dessa and Brooke & Lola also did a fantastic job showing people how well Arabians can jump and rode beautifully. Those bay mares and pasture mates looked great!

We will always remember the HUGE Obedience Class that went on forever and included flying lead changes on the straight away, trotting and reversing without stirrups, several counter canters, and backing a circle! It was a race to finish with Ashley & Hannah and both girls shined all the way to the end!

"A Day to Remember" in Ashley's Words

Team Wyatt's Run
May 16th was a marathon day - not only was our dear friend, Shannon Farar-Griefer running 100 miles but we were moving our barns, getting ready to ride with her on a 10 mile loop and preparing for the Hidden Hills English Show the very next day! When all was said and done, Ashley wrote about her experiences for her Youth News and I thought I couldn't have said it better myself so here you are....

This month was very exciting and full of many life changes that are going to lead us to many wonderful experiences. We had our annual Wyatt's Run fundraiser with Shannon Griefer and we had the most amazing time. Hannah ,Julia, Brooke & I accompanied Shannon and some of the the runners on a 10 mile run with our Arabians PA Precocious (Coco), MCA Crimson Lace (Crimson), CKM Aloah (Lola), and Bride Rose X (Rosie). We had an amazing time and we were very proud to be able to give a donation towards the fundraiser. We were also very proud of Shannon (also an Arabian horse owner) for running a full 24 hours and 100 miles in Ahmanson Ranch none stop.

How does Grace make moving look so cute & fun?
This month we also decided to finally leave the plum tree (tears and all) and move to our new barn that luckily is right near Spring Valley riding arena and at Nedra's house! It was hot and A LOT of work but, it all paid off to see all of our horses eating happily in there new stalls with fresh shavings. We had most of the girls; Jordan, Hannah, Julia, Emma, Grace, Brooke, and I at the Plum Tree to load up the empty trailer full of all of our belongings. Finally, after all the time spent on the tack room we were finally ready to have the horses come. Overall it was a long and interesting day, but we managed and are extremely proud of our hard work.

Oh, moving is so much work!

(P.S.) I am working on a video montage to commemorate our Plum Tree memories - watch for it!

XOXO ASHLEY

West Hills Hunt - Cross Country Race Day!

This was probably one of my proudest days of the year.
I was a little nervous about the girls taking on this challenge and I'm sure I drove them crazy with drilling them to be safe and careful.
Our girls showed up in usual form with their Sapphire shirts, and colorful polos & saddlepads. All cute and girly but when they rode the Cross Country course, everyone took notice and they gained respect from the other competitors!
We warmed up on the stadium fences and the girls may have been a little nervous as well but once they hit the course, they were all business.
Julez and Coco teamed up with Brooke & Lola since both girls walked the course during the week.
There were 14 fences in all and the course was a little over a mile. The girls flew around the course, were experts on the banks and did a fantastic job! It was so exciting!
For the next round, Ashley rode Snapper and Julez rode Dru, our super jumping pony. Brooke went along as the "guide" to lead the girls. This also made me proud since Brooke used to have course anxiety so it was a huge accomplishment for her.
Brooke also topped off the day by jumping the "Picnic Table" fence! That was really cool, too!
Our girls impressed everyone and had a great time. It was so much fun to cheer them on with Sandee and Sharyn!
We rocked it and can't wait to go back!

May Rider-of-the-Month - Jordan Parr!

This honor is probably long overdue. The Rider of the Month for May is Jordan Parr. May is a very special month to me. Candy's birthday was in May and we officially started our business in May.

Not only is Jordan a great rider - sometimes a little too fearless, no one cares for her horses like Jordan. She can spend hours on grooming and her horses are the softest in the barn.

For all of her quiet grooming time around the barn, once Jordan is on a horse, she likes to go fast! And jump high, by the way. For Jordan, the faster the better! When she is not scaring me, she inspires me with her love and devotion not only to the horses, but to her friends in the barn.
Jordan bravely deals with a knee injury and although she was not allowed to ride at several of our big shows, she still attended them to support her friends and work the show. She was their personal groom, photographer, and cheerleader. That sort of character is rare.
Like her friends, she also loves her horses unconditionally. With Jordan, there is just pure devotion. She loves the horses for their imperfections as much as their qualities. She feels connections to many horses and horses love and feel comfortable with her. Callaia and her are best buds and everyday Jordan is in the barn, we all light up and get excited.
Emma, time to give up the shotgun position! Love you, Jor!
